“Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter” developer video diary #1

Ubisoft surprised us today by releasing the first of several promised developer video diaries for Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, headed to Xbox 360 in March. This episode explains the new Cross Com feature that has been designed to provide real-time intelligence via a small video in the upper left-hand portion of the screen. This intel will be crucial to making on-the-fly squad decisions to achieve mission goals with minimal losses, as long as the Ghosts don’t get their helmets and nifty Last Starfighter worthy video eye-pieces shot off.

We’ve seen developer diaries in the past with low production values that hurt rather than bolster a game’s reputation. I’m talking camcorder quality of a developer sitting in his cubbie.. Ubisoft has put some time and effort into this series of diaries though, complete with integrating the game’s HUD over widescreen high resolution video. The result is well worth taking the time to download.

Grab the diary here (20MB Windows Media), then be on the look out for the second entry either next week or the week after.
