IESB.net has an informer on the Iron Man 2 set who passed along another bit of Gary-related casting news.
On Monday Gary Shandling appeared on set and has since been confirmed to be playing Senator Stern.
Joining Shandling will be Gary Oldman who, for now, appears to have been wooed away from Warner to give a little time to Marvel Studios. “Little” is the key word since Gary is concurrently shooting Book of Eli with Denzel Washington.
There’s no word yet on who Oldman will be playing though rumors suggest Tony’s father, Howard Stark, is a solid candidate. Tim Robbins’ name has popped up numerous times for this role but has yet to be confirmed or seen on-set.
From Batman to Harry Potter to Iron Man, you have to wonder where else Oldman will pop up in the future.
