Now that Joffrey has had his sadistic fun, Game of Thrones returns to HBO tonight in ‘The Ghost of Harrenhal’ with Theon furthering his quest to become truly Ironborn. After the torture, masochism and supernatural birthing scene in last week’s ‘Garden of Bones’ episode, it’s hard to imagine how this week will push the boundaries of indecency even further.
Now that Arya has become Tywin Lannister’s cup girl and seemingly found a temporary safe haven, she will soon discover a debt owed for freeing Jaqen H’ghar and his pals from their burning traveling cage prison. How she handles that debt may involve her new nightly wish list, though when it comes to Arya’s actions it’s nearly impossible to predict what comes next.
Look for Jon Snow to travel further into, well, the snow, with his Night’s Watch comrades as they journey to the First of the First Men. I get the sense that Snow and his friends will soon come upon some supernatural forces, but it might take until the end of the season for that to happen.
Theon, now having undergone his Ironborn ceremony, will take a single ship and prove to his father that he’s just as capable at battle as his sister and her 30 ships strong. I have a hard time imagining Asha and Theon getting along for much longer and wonder if they’ll cross paths in battle.
Look for the brothers squabble between Renly and Stannis to find some resolution in tonight’s episode. Should they join forces, Lady Stark will realize her mission to talk Renly into lending his 100,000 troops strong to son Robb’s war cause will have failed.
