HBO has released a new “making of” video from Game of Thrones: Season 2 that takes a look at life working as an extra.
In the video, Crowd Assistant Director Colin Azzopardi reveals that most of the extras working on Game of Thrones are there simply because they love the show and are willing to play hooky from their day job to take part in it. That means showing up on set at 4:45am and spending one to two days in wardrobe, make-up, hair and preparation before any actual filming takes place.
These extras have to do a lot of standing around like on any other show. To get to wear those elaborate costumes and be on those sets is something many of them would kneel on a sword for.
Game of Thrones: Season 2 kicks off exclusively on HBO beginning Sunday, April 1.
