USA Today has published the first image of Russell Crowe as Robin Hood in Ridley Scott’s in-production film based on the classic tale.
Crowe slimmed down considerably for the role but not to squeeze into uncomfortable tights prior Robin Hoods such as Errol Flynn were forced to. This bandit’s attire is more grounded in reality, possibly cobbled together with bits and pieces taken from the Sheriff’s men or other enemies of the Merry Men.
“He doesn’t have the old Robin Hood tights,” says producer Brian Grazer. “He’s got armor. He’s very medieval. He looks, if anything, more like he did in Gladiator than anything we’re used to seeing with Robin Hood.”
