First Official Look at Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland

Concept art and a fuzzy photograph of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland have been circulating the Internet since late last year. We’ve yet to see an official picture from Disney and Burton thus far, at least until now.

USA Today has published the first official images of Johnny Depp as the colorful Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter has the “swelled” head Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as the beautiful White Queen. As expected each looks distinctly and wonderfully “Burton-ized.”

Each character publicity shot will start appearing in theaters this week to begin promoting the film. Perfect timing, too, as movie houses across the nation will be “swelled” themselves with moviegoers rushing to see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

In addition to the character stills, USA Today has published three huge pieces of concept art that show off the rabbit in the garden, the entrance to the forest of giant mushrooms, and Tweedledee and Tweedledum escorting Alice to see the Mad Hatter. The artwork is interactive so you can zoom in, zoom out and move side to side for a full view of the panoramic scenes.

Head over to USA Today to read the accompanying article and mess around with the interactive concept art.
