In an interview with Hero Complex, Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome showrunner David Eick dished on one of the many new characters that will be introduced in the forthcoming pilot.
The character is Beka Kelly, a software genius that Eick describes as being “enigmatic and seemingly impenetrable… [someone who] gives Adama a run for his money.” Young Adama will connect with her in the pilot as he experiences his first taste of combat fresh out of cadet school. Beka has yet to be cast but some lucky woman out there should land this female lead role within the next month or two.
Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome is expected to begin production sometime after the first of the year. The pilot, the only ordered episode from Syfy thus far, could air as early as late 2011 or more likely in early 2012.
The Eick interview goes on to discuss the potential for links between Caprica, Blood and Chrome and BSG, as well as how the new show got its name. You can read the interview in its entirety here.
