An intense first poster for Warner Bros. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was revealed via the official Harry Potter Facebook page earlier today. It’s a winner, but also shares some similarities with another movie poster from over a quarter century ago.
Our own box office recapper Shawn Fitzgerald couldn’t help but recall the 1985 poster for Enemy Mine when taking a first look at Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter in a stare down with Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort. There’s no wand or weapon on the Enemy Mine poster, but the positioning of the opposing heads and glaring eyes is strikingly similar between the two.
The new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 isn’t going to cause a run on Enemy Mine posters, but the comparison is a neat one to make. Ok, maybe it will make you want to watch Enemy Mine again after having forgotten about it for a decade or more.
