All has been quiet on the Fifty Shades of Grey movie new front since director Sam Taylor-Johnson began shooting the hotly anticipated movie adaptation of the best-selling book series a couple months ago with Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson playing the leads. Late Friday the silence was halted as the first piece of promotional material was finally released just shy of the one-year mark until the film’s debut.
Below you will find the first Fifty Shades of Grey theatrical one-sheet movie poster featuring Dornan as Christian Grey looking out over the Seattle skyline. The tagline “Mr. Grey Will See You Now” is scrolled across the top, while a Valentine’s Day 2015 release date is promoted at the bottom.
Universal’s marketing team will be hanging this poster in only five high profile locations over the coming weeks as Valentine’s Day nears. They include New York (Grand St. & 6th Ave), Los Angeles (Wilshire Blvd. & Gayley), Chicago (LaSalle & Hubbard), San Francisco (Mission St. & 6th) and Seattle (1st St. & Wall St.).
The posters are part of what Universal is referring to as “the yearlong countdown to Valentine’s Day 2015 when the film arrives in theaters.” I would expect the next piece of promotional material to feature Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele, and perhaps the third to include Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson together.
The Fifty Shades of Grey movie is based on the books of the same name by author E.L. James and co-stars Jennifer Ehle, Luke Grimes, Max Martini, Callum Keith Rennie, Marcia Gay Harden, Rita Ora, Eloise Mumford and Dylan Neal. It drops into theaters on February 13, 2015.
