The fourth season of TNT’s Falling Skies won’t premiere until next June, but a first look at what we can expect has been delivered care of the Falling Skies panel at New York Comic-Con yesterday. After showrunner David Eick and his team dropped several tidbits, the panel concluded with the first Falling Skies: Season 4 trailer that you can watch in its entirety below.
Eick stated that the moon serves as the emotional theme of Season 4. Another theme is the idea of separation, in that we can expect members of the Second Mass. to become separated from one another for extended durations over the course of the season. The moon will serve as a constant for these separated characters that helps unite them. Tom and his daughter are two characters who will be separated.
Season 4 of Falling Skies will expand to 12 episodes. Eick remarked that this “allows you to explore all the new colors of this season and go deeper in the stories.” The season as a whole was inspired by Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
Some of the Volm aliens will still be on earth when Season 4 begins, including Cochise (Doug Jones), who won’t appear immediately but will pop up at some point in the upcoming season.
Eick teased that “there may be other enemies besides the Espheni,” which was followed up by character effects supervisor Todd Masters stating that he is “up to my neck in new aliens.”
