Entertainment Tonight Previews First Last Airbender Footage

In a promo for Monday’s episode, Entertainment Tonight included a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it snippet of footage for M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender.

All the footage shows is who looks like the film’s hero practicing his skills in a room full of candles. It’s not much but is the first moving footage from the big budget first part of a planned trilogy thus far.

The theatrical trailer has been heavily hinted at debuting with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen which begins its theatrical run this Wednesday. I doubt Entertainment Tonight will reveal the full trailer on Monday but a good portion of it is a safe bet. Even if they do then don’t expect Transformers ticket sales to suffer because of it.

The Last Airbender is a rare departure for M. Night Shyamalan into someone else’s universe. Shyamalan’s recent creative efforts have been predominantly trashed by critics so much rides on his reputation to pull this one off. Not only will the usual cadre of critics have a watchful eye, but Avatar fans the world over want their beloved property handled properly in its journey from animation to live-action.

I’ll share tomorrow night’s ET The Last Airbender footage as soon as its available.
