Emma Roberts will make the jump from family films to horror with news of her joining the Scream 4 cast.
Per EW, the star of Nancy Drew and Hotel For Dogs will play one of the film’s heroines, Jill. This character could possibly be a cousin of Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott.
Scream 4 returns to Sidney’s hometown of Woodsboro where the nightmare presumably begins all over again. Thus far the story has been kept under tight wraps. Returning to their signature Scream roles in addition to Campbell are Courteney Cox and David Arquette.
“I’m so excited to be part of this ground-breaking franchise,” said Emma in response to landing the Scream role. “It’s the perfect opportunity for me to do something completely different than I’ve ever done before.”
Scream 4 begins shooting on June 28 in Ann Arbor, Michigan from a Kevin Williamson script and the direction of Wes Craven.
