Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove strangely missed its original December 9 Blu-ray Disc release date after Sony pulled it from their schedule for reasons unknown.
Rather than leave the film in Blu-ray release purgatory where others like Glory currently reside, Sony has rescheduled Dr. Strangelove for June 16 to celebrate the film’s 45th anniversary.
Dr. Strangelove will be presented in its original 1.66:1 transfer at 1080p with 5.1 Dolby TrueHD and Mono audio options.
The Cold War: Picture-in-Picture and Pop-Up Trivia Track will be a lone Blu-ray exclusive bonus feature. The other features play out as follows.
- An Interview with Robert McNamara
- Best Sellers: Peter Sellers Remembered
- Inside: Dr. Strangelove
- No Fighting in the War Room or: Dr. Strangelove and the Nuclear Threat
- The Art of Stanley Kubrick: From Short Films to Strangelove
- The Cold War: Picture-in-Picture and Pop-Up Trivia Track (BD Exclusive)
