Dexterreturns to Showtime tonight for Season 6 without the baggage of a wife or girlfriend to cloud his judgment or knock him off his game.
At the conclusion of Season 5, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) had helped Lumen (Julia Stiles) track down and eliminate the men that abused and raped her. The relationship they forged during the task shattered when Lumen discovered her dark passenger was a hitchhiker that left after her vengeance was complete.
Dexter enters Season 6 in the premiere episode ‘Those Kinds of Things’ and year older with a new focus to return to the honed killer that is the Dexter of old. He’s planning on attending his 20th high school reunion with a motive unrelated to catching up with old friends. Or maybe he’s just interested in the catching part.
At the heart of Season 6 is Dexter’s introduction to religion, a topic he’s avoided addressing all his life. Is his dark passenger a calling from a higher power? Is religion what Harrison needs to help steer him down a path divergent from Dexter’s? These are questions that will play out over the course of the season.
On the opposite side of Dexter is a religious professor and his student, played by Edward James Olmos and Colin Hanks. They’ll be using religion as the motivation behind their own murders, something Dexter will have to determine whether he can relate to or oppose.
