Demi Moore Lovelace Role Awarded to Sarah Jessica Parker

Demi Moore Lovelace Role Awarded to Sarah Jessica ParkerDemi Moore left a void in the biopic Lovelace after she dropped out of the project this past Tuesday upon being hospitalized for “exhaustion.” Now the role has been filled by a “Parker,” but not the one initially reported by the media.

On Friday, US Weekly published a report claiming Showtime’s Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker had been hired to play Moore’s role of feminist Gloria Steinem. Later that same day, a press release was issued announcing Sarah Jessica Parker had landed the role.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s last two movie gigs have both underperformed at the box office. New Year’s Eve attracted a fraction of the audience that its predecessor Valentine’s Day managed, while I Don’t Know How She Does It with Parker in the lead bombed to the tune of $9.6 million through its theatrical run. Lovelace could help her get back on track.

Demi Moore, meanwhile, is still being treated for “exhaustion.” Rumors have been spreading that the actress, recently separated from Ashton Kutcher, is battling drug and nitrous-oxide abuse.

Lovelace stars Amanda Seyfried as Linda Lovelace, a porn star who learned the hard way that the industry was more about using her than helping her. The robust cast also includes, in addition to Sarah Jessica Parker, Hank Azaria, Peter Sarsgaard, Chloe Sevigny, James Franco, Wes Bentley, Sharon Stone, Eric Roberts, Adam Brody and June Temple. A release date has not been nailed down.
