Dakota Fanning “Really” Wants New Moon Role

Last week E! broke an exclusive story suggesting Dakota Fanning had been offered a role in the Twilight sequel New Moon without an audition.

While promoting her latest film Push, the 14-year old young star was asked about the rumor and didn’t back down from the challenge.

Her exact words when asked about appearing in New Moon were, “It’s definitely possible. I really hope it works out. It would be a really fantastic experience I’m sure.”

Summit Entertainment has also confirmed Dakota is in the running for the role but she is not alone. If Chris Weitz’s confidence in Dakota to offer her the role without a audition is true then the only hangups at this point can be scheduling and of course cash.

If Dakota lands the part she will play the vampire June who has been described on a casting notice as having a “Botticelli angel-like face… [and] crimson irises.” Her role is small in the book but could theoretically be expanded in the screenplay should an actress with the name recognition of Dakota come on board.

With filming set to commence in March a decision will likely be made in the coming weeks.
