Da Vinci Code Sequel “The Lost Symbol” Novel Dated; Film to Follow

Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group today announced the third novel in the Da Vinci Code series titled The Lost Symbol will be published in the US and Canada on September 15, 2009. The book will cover 12 hours of Robert Langdon’s life.

Random House will publish a whopping 5 million copies for the first run. Don’t expect any delays as author Dan Brown has reportedly completed the manuscript already.

News of Langdon’s return comes as the second book’s theatrical adaptation, Angels and Demons, is about to arrive in theaters. Variety is reporting Columbia Pictures will likely move fast to get The Lost Symbol into pre-production in an effort to keep the franchise fresh and on our radars. Unlike Angels and Demons which has taken nearly six years between the book’s debut and movie adaptation.

Angels and Demons will make that long-awaited movie debut on May 15.
