Today is not only Valentine’s Day but the two-year anniversary of Criterion’s partnership with Hulu. To mark the occasion, Criterion and Hulu are offering a free peek behind the pay wall and into a much larger world.
Over 800 films from the Criterion Collection have been added to Hulu Plus since the partnership began. Beginning today, on Valentine’s Day, every one of those films will be available to view for absolutely free for a limited five day run. Once this upcoming Monday comes and goes, the entire Criterion Collection will return to the Hulu Plus subscription space.
The promotion is designed to help drive awareness to the Criterion Collection as well as advertise the Hulu Plus subscription service that runs $7.99 a month. Obviously you can’t watch 800 plus films over the course of only five days. You can, however, dive in and see some films you previously could only access by opening your wallet.
