Veteran television actor Colin Hanks is joining Showtime’s Dexter in a recurring season 6 role, per TVLine.
Hanks has appeared in bit and recurring roles in numerous television projects over the past decade including HBO’s Band of Brothers, Roswell, and more recently AMC’s Mad Men. He’s also dabbled in film but has been unable to attain the leading man status his famous father Tom Hanks has.
Update: Showtime has confirmed Hanks is joining Dexter and calls his character Travis a “highly intelligent young expert on ancient artifacts who gets linked to a series of grisly murders in Miami.”
In joining Dexter as a character Showtime is determined to mostly keep under wraps, Hanks follows in the footsteps of Julia Stiles who was cast in the fifth season under similar circumstances. Stiles’ Lumen character turned out to be an adversary for Dexter Morgan. Rumors derived from TVLine’s scoop are predicting Hanks will play a villain, though nowhere does TVLine explicitly claim to know where his allegiance will fall.
