Steven Soderbergh is looking to further diversify his directing portfolio with a 3-D musical version of Cleopatra.
Targeted to fill the roles of Cleopatra and her lover Marc Antony are Catherine Zeta-Jones and Hugh Jackman.
Zeta-Jones of course is no stranger to musicals after her lauded performance in Chicago. Jackman let animators bring his musical talents to the big screen playing a dancing-obsessed penguin in Happy Feet.
The script has been completed by James Greer, a former bass player for the band Guided by Voices, and an author. The same indie rock band has written all the music for the proposed film already.
Soderbergh is expected to start shopping the $30 million budgeted musical around within the next two weeks.
