During a recent press tour interview for Public Enemies, Christian Bale revealed to MTV that he unsure of his return to play Batman and of a third film ever being made.
“I truly don’t know that we’re ever going to see another Batman movie,” Bale explained, citing his director’s recent comments that he may not return to helm another caped crusader film. “It would be purely that he would need to find a story that was good enough… and if he (Nolan) couldn’t find that it wouldn’t happen.”
Nolan, of course, is busy shooting his new film Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio in other countries. That film is also with Warner where another Batman film would be produced.
But rumors continue to swirl of Nolan’s departure from the franchise and Warner putting together a short list of suitable replacements. When asked how Bale would react to a Nolan-less Batman he replied, “I don’t even want to think about that. I don’t know if there will be a third.”
