Chiwetel Ejiofor is at the top of Sony and MGM’s list to play the next James Bond villain according to multiple sources feeding information to Variety.
The sources tell Variety that Ejiofor and the studio haven’t reach the point of an offer yet, but discussions are underway to figure out the actor’s schedule in terms of the Bond film’s shooting schedule to make sure it will work. Right now he is considered the front-runner to land the role.
Ejiofor is no stranger to playing the bad guy and stealing the show. He was the main antagonist in Serenity, Children of Men and Four Brothers.
Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris are already set to return in what will be the 24th James Bond film. It has a release date of November 6, 2015 with shooting expected to begin this summer. Plot details are completely unknown to the public at this time.
