Chicago Transformers 3 Shoot to Rival The Dark Knight

Christopher Nolan shot some of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight’s memorable action sequences in various downtown Chicago locations. He blew up a building, flipped a semi-truck and tossed countless cars into the air.

Next month, Michael Bay will move his Transformers 3 production into the windy city in what could be an equally explosive shoot. In fact Rich Moskal, director of the Chicago Film Office, had to call a meeting at the Office of Emergency Management and Communications to go over street closures and the impact production will have on the city.

“It’s an ambitious production,” he said about Transformers 3’s shoot. “But we and the producers are committed to mitigating the disruptions and addressing community concerns.”

Moskal went on to compare the Transformers 3 plans to those of The Dark Knight. “Scenes they’re planning could match if not exceed the spectacular stuff The Dark Knight production pulled off,” he continued. “Flying debris, flipping cars, stunts, that’s the kind of stuff you’ll probably be seeing here.”

Michael Bay, Shia LaBeouf, Tyrere Gibson, Josh Duhamel and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are expected to descend upon Chicago to begin filming on July 10 and run through August 19. Most of the shots will take place during the day with closures including LaSalle Street (8 p.m. July 9 to 5 a.m. July 12), the Michigan Avenue bridge (8 p.m. July 16 to 5 a.m. July 19) and Upper Wacker Drive (9 p.m. July 18 to 5 a.m. July 22).

Be aware if you live near those areas as you might get a free fireworks show and chances to snap some spy photos in exchange for some potentially horrific traffic delays.
