Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies Maps and Pack-A-Punch Locations

Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops is a top destination for many players who either blow through the campaign or grow tired of the more traditional multiplayer modes. To help you get the most out of Zombies mode in Black Ops, I’ve cobbled together some facts about each of the two maps including how to unlock them and where to find the Pack-A-Punch machines.

The first Zombies mode map is Kino der Toten, set inside an abandoned German theater and playable immediately after you boot up Black Ops for the first time. The key to unlocking the cooler features of this level resides in turning on the power. To do so, make your way to the backstage area (either to the left or right of the main cinema) and hit the power switch next to the M16. After you do this the stage curtains will raise and you’ll now have access to the teleporter in the projection room, the location of the Mystery Box, perk machines and 9 traps that can be placed. On the flip side, turning on the power brings out the Gas Zombies which are no fun to face.

The Pack-A-Punch machine in Kino der Toten is located in the projector room and requires 5,000 points to use. Ironically this room also includes an overlook so you can use your newly upgraded weapon to pick off unsuspecting zombies from above.

The second Black Ops Zombies level is Five and becomes available after you beat the single-player campaign. The creative idea behind this level is fantastic; you play as either John F. Kennedy, Ricard Nixon, Fidel Castro or Robert McNamara in a bid to defend three floors of the Pentagon. As with Kino der Toten you’ll need to turn on the power to gain access to the cool features and perks on this map. This is accomplished by clearing the debris (1,750 points) and the riding the elevator on the first floor (another 250 points) down to the War Room. You’ll next make your way to the War Room by clearing more debris (2,000 points) and riding the elevator there (250 points) down to the basement. You’ll find the power switch after moving northeast out of the elevator in this bottom floor.

Reaching the Pack-A-Punch machine in Five requires the Def Con level hitting 5. This is accomplished by hitting the four Def Con switches located in the middle War Room level. Once all four are activated, all teleporters in Five will point towards a briefing room that houses the Pack-A-Punch machine (there’s a teleporter right in the middle of the War Room to use). You’ll know all four switches were hit as a small floating icon of the Pack-A-Punch will appear in the teleporters.

There’s annoying white-haired guy that comes out after turning around the power in Five called the Tech. He’s a scientist who steals weapons from players one by one with a simple touch. To defeat the Tech once-and-for-all, you’ll want to aim for his head, attack him with two weapons fully loaded, plant as many claymore mines in his path as possible and always keep firing at him as much as possible. He spawns from a doorway near where the power switch is so locate the doorway and plant your claymores down the hallway away from it.

Another neat note about Five is a weapon exclusive to the map called Winter’s Breath. This random weapon that appears in the Mystery Box can freeze zombies in their tracks.

The four Zombies maps from Call of Duty: World at War are available in Black Ops exclusively with the Hardened or Prestige editions. You can learn more about or purchase those at Amazon.com.
