Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Possibly Outed

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Possibly OutedA couple of tidbits surfaced on Friday concerning the subject matter on the next Call of Duty game that will be released this fall per confirmation from Activision’s last quarterly earnings call.

First, French website Gameblog.fr posted an image from the French version of Amazon.com which lists the new game as Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Activision’s European legal arm quickly demanded that Amazon remove the listing, and for Gameblog.fr to remove the image.

The second piece of news to hit involves a listing on Nerve Software game artist Hugo Beyer’s Linkedin page showing that he has, in fact, been working under contract with Treyarch on the game. Activision also had this nugget pulled, but Joystiq managed to save a screenshot before it was.

It is not a secret that another annual Call of Duty game is coming, and in keeping with the pattern, it should be, by all instances, a sequel to the wildly successful Black Ops with zombie mode game. Why Activision is going to such great lengths to cover it up is like a Black Op in and of itself, unless someone has paid handsomely for an exclusive reveal in the not-too-distant future.

We will know for sure if Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is myth or real by no later than E3 during the first week of June.
