Buena Vista Reveals ‘Lost: Season Three’ Blu-ray Specs

Buena Vista Home Entertainment has unearthed the full disc specs for ‘Lost Season 3: The Unexplored Experience’ on Blu-ray Disc, the first television series released in high definition by the studio. It will arrive in stores on December 11 in a six-disc set with an SRP of $124.99, day-and-date with the $65 less and seven-disc standard DVD edition debut.

‘Lost: Season Three’ Technical specs are what we’ve come to expect from Buena Vista Blu-ray Discs with 1080p widescreen 1.78:1 video and 5.1 16-bit uncompressed PCM audio for all 23 episodes.

Next are the previously known extra features that will appear on both DVD and Blu-ray Disc, only now with some light accompanying descriptive verbiage.

  • The World of the Others: Featuring interviews with the producers and the cast, The World of the Others explores the crucial role of The Others in season 3 and what the world of Lost holds for these characters in the future.
  • Lost Flashbacks – Never-before-seen glimpses into the past lives of the castaways
  • Lost in A Day – Fans of Lost will have a chance to see what it really takes to create the show each season. Cameras follow each part of the Lost machine to cover a day’s work on the series. Spanning seven episodes, from Hawaii to California, and from the writers” room and the sound studio to the production office and the Hawaii set, you’ll be amazed to see everything this show accomplishes day in and day out.

  • Lost on Location – A behind-the-scenes look at the making of 10 episodes from season 3
  • The Lost Book Club – Learn about the role of literature in the story of Lost in this exploration of the books featured in the series. The show’s producers and cast reflect on the books highlighted in the series, and what they mean to the world of Lost.
  • Deleted Scenes – Nine new scenes from the cutting room floor.
  • Bloopers – Hilarious outtakes of the cast and crew from the set of the third season of Lost.
  • Audio Commentaries
  • Plus much more (?)

Although the press release doesn’t specifically state whether these extras will be presented in standard or high definition on Blu-ray, we suspect the former and will verify that with Buena Vista as soon as possible.

Exclusive to the Blu-ray Disc version is an intriguing interactive BD-Java feature described by Buena Vista as follows, “Fans will rethink what they know about Lost and change the way they watch the show. Viewers decipher truth from conjecture through an interactive control panel unlocking the mysterious world of Lost.”
