Disney’s Hannah Montana: The Movie stormed the box office and rolled past all expectations to a cool $34 million take. Upon seeing this result, the Jonas Brothers must be wondering what they did wrong.
It was clear on Friday that Hannah Montana would lay waste to Fast & Furious when it accumulated over $17 million on its opening day compared to F&Fs $10.7 million. The fourth F&F film still fared well with $28.7 million and a domestic box office total on the verge of eclipsing $120 million total.
Seth Rogen’s critically split Observe and Report edged past $11 million for a decent if unspectacular opening. Dragonball Evolution had a rougher debut failing to reach $5 million.
The complete top 10 which month-long runners Knowing and I Love You, Man continue to be a part of is as follows.

Tween (or parent) pocketbooks won’t get a rest when Zac Efron’s 17 Again leads the box office charge next weekend. He’ll face off against Crank: High Voltage (my personal fun pick) and State of Play starring Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck.
Next week won’t be judged by whether 17 Again comes out on top, but by whether 17 Again can best Hannah Montana.
