Battlefield 4 Gets a Wet Teaser Trailer and Website (Updated)

Battlefield 4 Gets a Wet Teaser Trailer and WebsiteElectronic Arts is on the verge of revealing the first gameplay footage for DICE’s Battlefield 4 in conjunction with PAX East early next week. So far we have a short teaser trailer and the launch of the official website. Both carry a common theme: water.

The Battlefield 4 website shows a picture of some tanks driving in the pouring rain that is obscured by water droplets on the screen. I took the liberty of finding the original image sans water droplets which you can view in high resolution by clicking the smaller version below.

This image tells us that environmental effects will play a big role in the upcoming sequel. Rain, snow, etc. is nothing new in combat games, but if DICE is able to focus on the realism of changing environments, then the weather could really play a big role in the game.

The second tease is a short video titled “Sea” that shows a submarine propeller. Does this mean that naval combat is making a return to the franchise after a long absence? It sure seems like it.

EA will make the big Battlefield 4 gameplay reveal on Wednesday, March 27 at the official website. There’s a good chance that the gameplay will be running on next-gen hardware i.e. Playstation 4 and the next Xbox. Here’s hoping.

Update: A second teaser trailer has been revealed (see below), this one focusing on a tank tread. We land, sea… all we need is air to complete the G.I. Joe theme song.
