Batman vs Superman Movie Adds Fourth Superhero in Cyborg

Batman vs Superman Movie Adds Fourth Superhero in CyborgA live-action Justice League film inched closer to reality with news that Warner Bros. is negotiating with a New York City theater actor to play the part of Cyborg in Zack Snyder’s untitled Superman vs Batman film.

According to THR, theater actor Ray Fisher is who Warner Bros. and Snyder want to play the part of Victor Stone, a promising football player whose body is mutilated in an accident at S.T.A.R. labs involving his parents that work there. He is then rebuilt into Cyborg, a half-man, half-machine superhero that fights alongside other members of the Justice League. S.T.A.R. labs was name-dropped in Snyder’s first Superman film, Man of Steel, and has played an ongoing role in The CW’s Arrow television series.

Cyborg is best known for his role in the Teen Titans comics run. However, only three years ago he was upgraded to a founding member of the Justice League when DC Comics rebooted its continuity in the New 52. If Warner Bros. and Snyder intend to introduce Cyborg early then it’s possible they also want him to be a founding member.

It’s unclear at this time how big of a role Fisher will have in a film that already will star Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. My best guess is that there will be a small football game sequence in the film that shows Stone in action before the incident, and we won’t actually see him become Cyborg until the next film.

Fisher is best known for playing a young Muhammad Ali in the stage production Fetch Clay, Make Man. Assuming he gets the part of Stone/Cyborg, Batman vs Superman will mark his feature film debut.
