The first trailer and footage for Warner Bros. remake of Arthur has come online via Yahoo! Movies after months of on-set images were shared around the Internet to build up anticipation.
Russell Brand wears the top hat of fellow Brit Dudley Moore as the title character born into a billionaire’s planned life but with aspirations to do his own thing. The trailer proves Brand has the drunk bit down and can wear his pants just as tight as Moore ever did.
Noticeably absent from the trailer Greta Gerwig’s character, a poor girl that Arthur is willing to give up all his money to spend the rest of his life with. Instead there are numerous shots of bad girl and far more recognizable Jennifer Garner playing an heiress Arthur is supposed to marry. Nick Nolte will play Garner’s overly religions father and Helen Mirren takes a stab at comic relief as Arthur’s caregiver. Darth Vader, Batman, a pudgy Robin and familiar Batmobile also make an appearance.
Arthur hits theaters everywhere on April 8.
