Anne Hathaway Refers to The Dark Knight Rises Role as “Catwoman”

Anne Hathaway appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday and recounted the moment when she first learned Christopher Nolan had chosen her to start in The Dark Knight Rises. Twice during her recollection she referred to the character as distinctly “Catwoman” which is something you wouldn’t expect her to do after reading for the part unless that was the part.

There had been some fear that Catwoman may not appear after Warner Bros. chose to list Anne Hathaway’s character as Selina Kyle in a press release. Neither the studio, Warner Bros. or anyone involved with the production has – until yesterday – made reference to the Catwoman character by name.

Christopher Nolan has been adamant that The Dark Knight Rises is the third and final film in his trilogy. In that’s the case and Catwoman plays a role, we could be looking at a portion of the film focusing on the transformation of Selina into Catwoman.
