During the Nintendo Direct broadcast event, Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata announced a slew of new projects and features coming to consumers around the world in the next few months.
One announcement concerns a new Mario Bros. game for the 3DS system. Another concerns a 3DS system update that is scheduled to roll out on April 25.
Also announced is the first new news on the long awaited Animal Crossing game for the Nintendo 3DS system. President Iwata announced that the game would be released this fall in Japan. There was no mention of the worldwide release dates, but seeing as how New Super Mario Bros. 2 is being released simultaneously in both North America and in Japan, it is possible that Animal Crossing for English speaking territories may not be too far behind.
Additionally, Kirby, the loveable pink… blob will be getting the 20th Anniversary treatment that both Mario and the Zelda series received in the last two years. Expect a series of commemorative games for the 3DS and tie-in events and merchandise, as well as a 20th Anniversary collection of past Kirby games to be released for the Wii.
