Online retailer Amazon.com has begun taking pre-orders for Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan with Tom Hanks and Matt Damon on Blu-ray Disc.
Neither Paramount nor Dreamworks has made mention of this film coming to Blu-ray this year. Typically when films move into active pre-order state, their arrival is imminent within the next few months.
Studios love to release World War II themed films in the weeks leading up to the anniversary of D-Day on June 6 as well as Father’s Day which this year falls two weeks later on June 20. That would speculatively put its release in the mid-May time frame.
Will Saving Private Ryan on Blu-ray eb a Sapphire Series release like Forrest Gump? Or will it be a two-disc set like Spielberg’s recently announced Minority Report? We’ll pass along any further developments on Saving Private Ryan coming to Blu-ray as they happen.
