The folks at Legoland in California might want to start planning some new models, rides and attractions. A new Lego movie is, and has been, “under construction.”
Variety is reporting Warner Bros. Pictures has been developing a film based on Lego for more than a year. Dan Lin will produce the film and add it to his resume alongside the Tom and Jerry feature film currently in development.
The film’s plot is being kept under tight wraps but is expected to be an action adventure mixing live action and CGI set in a world constructed by Lego bricks and pieces. Lin and scribes Dan and Kevin Hageman have made several trips to Lego headquarters in Denmark to flesh out the concept.
Warner’s ties to Lego already run deep with the Batman, Harry Potter and Speed Racer films being licensed into Lego brick forms. Lego will next appear in the Lego Rock Band video game aimed at young kids and families.
