Marvel is dropping Avengers: Age of Ultron clips fast and furiously to coincide with the film’s North American premiere on Monday night. Yesterday three new clips exploded onto the Internet, and today a fourth has arrived that finally lets us hear Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) speak.
The clip starts with a confrontation between Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Ultron (voiced by James Spader), the maniacal robot Stark created to lead an army of drone enforcers so that the Avengers wouldn’t have to work anymore. Needless to say the plan backfires and Ultron would just assume wipe his “father” off the face of the earth.
What’s already sparking debate in this clip is Spader’s Ultron voice. It’s without the robotic effect heard in the previous trailers and now sounds entirely human. It’s too early to know if the clip was cut before the effect was added or if Ultron’s voice will evolve over the course of the film.
Scarlet Witch only gets a couple words in but those words confirm that Olsen is embracing an Eastern Europe accent for Scarlet Witch the same as Aaron Taylor-Johnson has for Quicksilver. The accents go a long way toward each character’s authenticity considering where they hail from.
Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in theaters everywhere on May 1.
