Sony Pictures Animation has let loose the first full-length Smurfs: The Lost Village trailer ahead of the sequel’s release next year.
The first thing that immediately jumps out in this trailer is the absolute absence of any live-action or Smurfs running around New York City. The Smurfs are sticking with their animated roots for what looks like a pretty fun adventure to discover a whole new world.
Smurfs: The Lost Village features a voice cast of Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Rainn Wilson, Danny Pudi, Jack McBrayer, Joe Manganiello and Mandy Patinkin.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
In this fully animated, all-new take on the Smurfs, a mysterious map sets Smurfette and her best friends Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty on an exciting and thrilling race through the Forbidden Forest filled with magical creatures to find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel does. Embarking on a rollercoaster journey full of action and danger, the Smurfs are on a course that leads to the discovery of the biggest secret in Smurf history!
Look for Smurfs: The Lost Village in theaters on April 7th, 2017.
