Shredder is packing a lot of extendable sharp appendages in the new TMNT trailer that Paramount Pictures dropped today following a social media project yesterday revealing new character posters for Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Raphael. The turtles’ rat mentor Splinter, however, is still mostly lurking in the shadows.
The previous two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailers showed fleeting glimpses of the four fighting turtles in action. This new trailer blows open the doors, so to speak, as we get to see each of the turles utilizing their weapon of choice.
The trailer also shows these turtles live up to their “teenage” moniker by riding both a skateboard and what appears to be a hoverboard of some sort. I’m sure there’s plenty of pizza binging jammed into the film as well.
Shredder’s presence is the big reveal in this TMNT trailer as the big bad finally makes his grand entrance. He is portrayed as a beefed-up version of the original designs — much like the mo-capped turtles themselves. He’s also packing an arrary of sharp cutlery that extends from his arm when its time to brawl. Based on the trailer he certainly will be brawling with both Splinter and the turtles.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stars Megan Fox at April O’Neil, Will Arnett at Vernon Fenwick, and William Fichtner as Shredder. It arrives in theaters on August 8.
