A new Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer will premiere tonight during the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship game between Ohio State and Oregon on ESPN, as has been confirmed by official announcements coming from Marvel Studios and their parent, Disney.
The earliest you can expect to watch the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer on ESPN is sometime after the game’s 8:30pm EST / 5:30pm PST start time. Disney and Marvel are being coy as to which commercial break the trailer will appear in so it could be in the first quarter or in the fourth. I’m thinking the trailer will land before halftime to grab the biggest possible audience.
The hope is that this new Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer will be a full 2:30 trailer and not a :30 second TV spot. We’re also hoping that the trailer is comprised mostly of new footage and not a recycled version of the previously released trailers with a couple new bits stitched in merely to freshen it up.
I fully expect Marvel to make the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer available to view online in high definition almost immediately after its debut on ESPN. When that happens we’ll add the trailer in a new post so you can watch the Avengers: Age of Ultron online streaming to your heart’s content.
Who knows? Maybe we’ll finally get our first look at the live-action Vision in something other than promotional artwork or concept art.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is directed by Joss Whedon and stars Roberts Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, James Spader, Paul Bettany and Samuel L. Jackson. It takes theaters by storm starting on May 1, 2015.
