With a highly publicized director shuffle now firmly situated in the rearview mirror, Marvel today officially began principal photography on Ant-Man, the first film in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe Phase 3.
Ant-Man shooting today is taking place in San Francisco, California. However, the bulk of production will occur at the film’s base of production in Atlanta, Georgia.
Peyton Reed is directing Ant-Man after Edgar Wright left the project due to reported creative differences a few month ago. Reed took the stage at Comic-Con last month to a lukewarm response despite his love for Marvel comics, and aims to prove himself to Marvel’s hardc0re fans by delivering a great installment in the Avengers film saga. Starring in Ant-Man are Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Hank’s daughter. The supporting cast includes Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Pena, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, John Slattery, Gregg Turkington, and T.I.
Look for Ant-Man in theaters on July 17, 2015, following the Avengers: Age of Ultron release on May 1, 2015.
