Marvel Studios has added a third untitled film to its 2018 roster mere hours after Sony vacated the slot with The Amazing Spider-Man 4, which now has no release time frame after The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was pushed back into 2017.
The May 4, 2018 date that Marvel snapped up will most likely be utilized for The Avengers 3 following the same pattern that Marvel has employed for the first two Avengers films. It marks the sixth untitled film that Marvel has added to its future release date within the past week.
Marvel’s Cinematic Phase 2 has two films left with Guardians of the Galaxy arriving on August 1 followed by The Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1, 2015. Phase 3 will begin with Ant-Man on July 17, 2015.
