The wait to see what Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens looks like after a huge image leak that occurred earlier today. This isn’t a fake, folks, especially considering the image’s source and how similar images have already been proven to be legit.
In the image, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker is on a sound stage standing atop some sort of small pedestal. He’s got the same brown and grey beard he sported during the time of filming in a throwback to Obi-Wan Kenobi as seen in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
Nods to Obi-Wan don’t stop at the beard. Skywalker’s Jedi robes are lighter than any robes we’ve seen in the live-action Star Wars films yet. They’re in stark contrast to the black robes Luke was last seen in during Return of the Jedi 30 years ago.
It still could be awhile before Lucasfilm and Disney release an official image of Luke as seen in The Force Awakens. His role in the film is expected to be small while Han Solo steps into the forefront. Maybe we’ll get lucky and see a glimpse of more than Luke’s robotic hand in the next Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer.
Here’s Luke, followed by a humorous comparison that you’ll get a chuckle out of.
The dude approves!
