‘Han Solo Movie’ Officially Casts Woody Harrelson in Key Role

A fourth key role has been officially cast in Lucasfilm’s Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film from directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller with the addition of veteran actor Woody Harrelson alongside previously cast Alden Ehrenreich (Solo), Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian) and Emilia Clarke.

The announcement came from the official Star Wars website but stopped short of describing Harrelson’s role in any shape or form. However, Harrelson let slip in an interview with Mashable and other outlets that his character is “a mentor to Han, but I’m also a bit of a criminal.”

That description lines up with rumors that began circulating a few weeks ago. You can now take it to the bank: Han Solo’s mentor is Woody Harrelson and he’s probably just as much of a scoundrel as Solo is.

For Harrelson this role marks the third huge science fiction franchise he’s been a part of in recent years. The run began with four films in The Hunger Games and later this year continues with a villainous turn in War for the Planet of the Apes.

The Han Solo movie begins shooting next month across the pond in the United Kingdom and arrives in theaters on May 25th, 2018.
