Final Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Trailer Calls for Reinforcements

Apes are strong when together and not too shabby on a solo mission in this final trailer for director Matt Reeves and Fox’s sequel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

This Dawn of the Planet of the Apes trailer fleshes out the story a bit more by introducing a fragile peace reached between apes and man. The great apes leader Caesar (Andy Serkis), like his human counterpart Malcolm (Jason Clarke), are both trying to protect their families. There are some within the apes camp that feel Caesar is too sympathetic toward the humans and either alone or with backup, an ape cleverly infiltrates a human encampment with his mind set on spilling blood.

As Caesar sadly tells Malcolm, war between apes and man has begun and apparently there’s no stopping it. Human Dreyfus (Gary Oldman) has even called on the U.S. military, still somewhat in operation as at least one naval vessel is seen sailing underneath the remnants of the Golden Gate Bridge. The trailer doesn’t show the apes attacking the ship, but it’s hard to imagine they aren’t aware of it and find a way to incapacitate its firepower.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes also stars Keri Russell, Judy Greer, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Kirk Acevedo, Toby Kebbell and Kevin Rankin.

The battle between apes and man gets underway when Dawn of the Planet of the Apes drops into theaters on July 11.
