Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Trailer Two Opens a World of Magic

Warner Brothers, writer J.K. Rowling and director David Yates have cracked open Newt Scamander’s magical and seemingly bottomless briefcase a hair more in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trailer two that premiered during last night’s 2016 MTV Movie Awards.

The trailer introduces Eddie Redmayne as Mr. Scamander, a former Hogwarts student whose expulsion from the prestigious magical school likely had something to do with his keen interest in fantastical beasts. Briefcase in hand, Newt ventures across the Atlantic to New York where his globetrotting adventures that he will document in a future Hogwarts textbook begin.

There are unmistakable and quite intentional links to the Harry Potter franchise in this trailer that range from mentions of Albus Dumbledore and Hogwarts to the animated newspapers seen throughout the Potter films. Make no mistake; Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set in 1926, far removed from the events of Voldemort and Mr. Potter’s battles.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them stars Academy Award-winner Eddie Redmayne as the titular character, Colin Farrell as an investigator who seems to know a lot about Mr. Scamander, Alison Sudol, Carmen Ejogo, Dan Fogler, Katherine Waterston, Jon Voight, Ron Perlman and Samantha Morton.

Look for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in theaters on November 18th.
