Another piece of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron Comic-Con footage got its public debut last night at the tail end of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD latest episode. It’s a humorous and lighthearted clip that segues into the same trailer that forced Marvel to adapt to Internet leaks on the fly.
Marvel was supposed to use last night’s Agents of SHIELD to premiere the new Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer. Instead, the trailer was leaked online nearly a week before its planned primetime debut, and Marvel swiftly reacted within hours by formally released a high definition version of the trailer online, citing Hydra as the culprits for the leak.
Having already promised the trailer for Agents of SHIELD, Marvel reacted a second time by tacking on a scene from the Comic-Con footage for the ultimate Avengers: Age of Ultron footage barrage that millions watched during Agents of SHIELD last night.
That Avengers: Age of Ultron footage is now online in its official high definition form and you can watch it below. It features Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) and Captain America (Chris Evans) trying to lift Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) hammer, Mjolnir, during after hours drinks in the Avengers tower. The crowning moment in the clip is when Cap gets Mjolnir to budge and the priceless expression that Thor makes as a result.
Unless my eyes deceive me there’s some bad editing in the clip as Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) can be seen hitting by himself at one moment, and in the very next cut he’s on the couch next to Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders). Oops.
Also appearing in the footage that is presumably from early on in the film are Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), the latter of whom wants nothing to do with the masculine game going on.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is directed by Joss Whedon and opens on May 1, 2015.
