Microsoft has release the stunning Halo 5: Guardians opening cinematic trailer for Xbox One that shows Spartans fighting like you’ve only read about up until this point.
In the trailer, Fireteam Osiris receives orders to retrieve a high value target whose name many of you will already be familiar with. The quartet arms up and then jumps from a ship, through Covenant ships, and right into the middle of a massive battle on a snowy mountain.
This is the first time we’ve seen Spartans truly use their brute strength and speed in the Halo video game series. 343 Industries is tapping into the Halo books more so than any previous game in the franchise and if you weren’t excited for the new Halo 5: Guardians campaign yet, this trailer should change your mind.

- Spartan Jameson Locke – Before he was a Spartan, Locke was an ONI Acquisitions Specialist – an expert in tracking, asset recovery, and elimination of high value targets
- Spartan Olympia Vale – A child prodigy, Vale’s innate skill in languages led to a career as a Navy liaison with the Sangheili post-war
- Spartan Holly Tanaka – After surviving the glassing of her homeworld, Tanaka joined the Army, looking for a chance to save others from the same fate
- Spartan Edward Buck – During his service as an ODST, Buck’s personnel profile suggested “if he were any better he’d be a Spartan”
