I cannot even begin to explain how much time I spent playing the original ToeJam & Earl on Sega Genesis. Sadly subsequent sequels remixed the gameplay style and jettisoned what made the original so charming in the first place.
Greg Johnson, founder of HumaNature Studios and one of the original creators of ToeJam & Earl, clearly realized this and hopes to make all that is new old again with the fourth game in the series, ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove.
Here’s a new appropriately 360p teaser trailer that starts off with ToeJam & Earl swapping some banter. It concludes with short glimpses of gameplay sure to ignite all sorts of nostalgic memories.
This sequel has been in development for some time and was originally scheduled to be published via Adult Swim Games. Instead, HumaNature Studios will be publishing it directly with PC and Switch versions expected first, followed by Xbox One and PS4 versions shortly thereafter.
The current timetable for ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove to be formally released is sometime this fall.
