A final batch of new Skylanders Imaginators toys has just hit stores and one of them, the Cursed Tiki Temple Level Pack, brings a couple new elements to the franchise.
At first glance it’s evident that Cursed Tiki Temple is smaller than previously released Level Packs. Gone is a physical toy representation of the Level and in its place a Mystery Chest with 80 new Imaginator parts.
How do you get the new level if there is no level toy piece, you wonder? Skylanders Imaginators now prompts for an online update when fired up. That update includes the Cursed Tiki Temple Level Pack at 1.088 GB.
Air Sensei Wild Storm from the Knight Class, along with a Life Creation Crystal, is also inclusive with the Cursed Tiki Temple Level Pack. When placed on the Portal of Power and added to the game, a notification appears that the Cursed Tiki Temple level is ready to be played. If you haven’t played the game in awhile and cannot remember the map then it might take some exploring to find where the new level appeared.
The level itself borrows a massive flying dragon element from Skylanders SuperChargers. The first half of the level is comprised of reaching the flying dragon and entering the Temple upon its back. Once inside, the second part is all about reuniting a mystical and humorous tiki’s head with its body.
The Cursed Tiki Temple Level Pack does a great job of ramping up difficulty with each successive mini-arena battle. It also introduces a new gameplay element by reinventing push blocks to act as weapons that can be used for or against you.
Spinning blades pop in and out of the blocks with a flashing red light warning of their emergence. These blocks are a hassle when you’re running from swarms of enemies and get caught in the blades. However, they’re great for using as shields that whack enemies every time the blades come out.
There’s a lot of fun packed into the Cursed Tiki Temple Level Pack. Wildstorm’s giant sword works wonders for melee combat, many new Imaginator parts get unlocked, and the push blocks serving a greater purpose needs to appear again.
After looking at my giant Skylanders collection, a little less plastic in not having a new physical Level piece is fine by me.
