Skylanders Fly 2014 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

How big have Activision’s Skylanders franchise grown since its introduction three years ago? The Toys to Life phenomenon about to take part in the 2014 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and join a prestigious array of pop culture icons.

Your eyes won’t deceive you later this month when a gigantic Eruptor balloon takes flight during the iconic parade, marking the first appearance for the Skylanders on the grand stage, and most likely not the last. He’ll join fellow Nintendo gaming pal Pikachu from the Pokemon franchise who is also getting the mammoth balloon treatment for the big New York City street show.

Eruptor is one of the original Skylander characters and figures from 2011’s Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure. He has been released and repainted multiple times since then and is widely considered one of the “main characters” in a roster of characters in the neighborhood of 200 and growing.

For the Skylanders Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Eruptor balloon, artists utilized more than 40 gallons of florescent paint and five barrels of glitter to make sure the volcanic hot head pops for parade attendees and those watching at home.

The 2014 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade start time is 9am in all time zones, and you can watch it live on NBC.
