Triple “A” video games are big money and the big publishers such as Activision and Electronic Arts aren’t afraid of opening their wallets to promote their biggest franchises. Case in point: EA Sports has released Madden: The Movie, a new short film designed to promote Madden NFL 16 that may rival the game in entertainment value.
The movie’s premise has a mix of actors and athletes including Dave Franco, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Julio Jones, Rob Gronkowski, Colin Kaepernick, Antonio Brown and Rex Ryan coming together to take down a video game boss. Yes, there’s a giant T-Rex in it.
YouTube commenter are complaining that EA Sports spent more money on Madden: The Movie than they did on Madden NFL 16. We’ll never know, but there’s no denying this almost five-minute movie cost a pretty penny to produce.
Madden NFL 16 comes out for everyone on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360 and PS3 next Tuesday, August 25.
